About

Ann Lenczewski’s Bloomington roots run deep. She grew up in Bloomington and attended the Bloomington Public Schools. Ann has served on numerous boards and commissions throughout our city: Bloomington Planning Commission; Bloomington Chamber of Commerce Board; Bloomington Park and Arts Task Force, Chair; Bloomington League of Women Voters Board; Bloomington School education initiatives; Bloomington Athletic Association (BAA) and many high school booster clubs. These are just a sampling of the many ways Ann has served as a volunteer and a leader in Bloomington.

Bloomington residents of all political persuasions noticed Ann Lenczewski’s leadership qualities and encouraged her to run for office. Ann was successful in her first campaign, winning a seat on the Bloomington City Council. She made her mark there as a fiscal conservative with a balanced, moderate approach to government who solicits input from residents to represent their views.

Voters recognized Ann’s commitment to the people of Bloomington and reelected Ann to the Bloomington City Council. Ann’s ability to negotiate consensus to reach solutions drew attention and she was repeatedly encouraged to run for the Minnesota Legislature. Ann accepted the challenge and with the help of thousands of Bloomington residents successfully won a seat in the Minnesota House of Representatives.

Bloomington residents have chosen a moderate practical voice for Bloomington at the state level in electing Ann Lenczewski. Widely viewed as a suburban centrist, Ann has worked hard for bipartisan, common sense solutions. Her voting record demonstrates her non-partisan practical approach and confirms her stature as one of the most moderate, centrist legislators in the state. Ann currently serves as the Chair of the Minnesota House Taxes Committee. It should be noted that this difficult achievement is extremely rare for suburban legislators and is attained through hard work, diligence and listening to disparate views. Ann fights hard for Bloomington residents and Minnesotans and has worked to build numerous coalitions across party and geographic lines.

Ann credits her success to the thousands of Bloomington residents who provide her with input as she goes door to door. She counts on the good judgement and integrity of residents to be candid and fair as they work together.  Ann appreciates the emails, phone calls and letters that help guide her as she attempts to make decisions on behalf of the people of Bloomington.

Ann Lenczewski graduated from the College of St. Benedict and did her graduate work at the University of Minnesota. She is married to Nels Erickson and they have four children.

Finally, Ann runs positive campaigns and does not engage in negative campaigning.
